Ready for the real world.

Adolescents want work that matters and adults who take them seriously. Our middle and high school gives them both: a rigorous academic program and real responsibility for the community they belong to.

Preparatory

The room

Sixth through twelfth grade at DMA is small by design. Students work in seminar, in the lab, and on projects with real audiences. They graduate with the study habits, the writing, and the self-advocacy that colleges notice.

Mathematics and science

Pre-algebra through the high school sequence, lab-based physical and life science, and the scientific writing to go with it.

Humanities

Literature seminars, history through primary sources, and essays that are drafted, critiqued, and rewritten.

Community and enterprise

Students run parts of the school day and plan projects with budgets and deadlines. Leadership is practiced, not lectured.

Critical thinking and debate

Structured argument, evidence, and listening. Students learn to change their minds in public.

Spanish

Conversation and reading at the level each student is ready for.

College and career

Study skills, test preparation, and guidance on applications, from the first campus visit to the last essay.
